Mississippi Gulf Coast Launches Destination Video Reports

Videos touting Mississippi Gulf Coast tourism opportunities are now posted on websites and social media sites such as YouTube, and Facebook.

Production of the first destination video report took place on July 2nd in Gulfport while the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo was in full swing.  Two days later, a second was shot in Ocean Springs at the foot of the Ocean Springs-Biloxi Bay Bridge.

“When it comes to all the Mississippi Gulf Coast has to offer, seeing is believing,” said Mary Beth Wilkerson, Director of Tourism for the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA).

The goal is to produce three videos a week for the next few months as part of the Mississippi Development Authority’s ongoing efforts to bolster economic conditions in the state’s three coastal counties. Each video is around 60 seconds. Future subjects will include

“In spite of the on-going problems in the Gulf, the Mississippi Gulf Coast offers visitors incredible experiences,” Wilkerson said.

She pointed to the eleven casino resorts, championship golf courses, fine restaurants, and unique shops as attractive venues not depending on the condition of the beach.

“While there are beach advisories in effect from day-to-day, the beaches themselves remain open,” said Wilkerson.

One can view the first two reports by searching “Visit MS Coast” on  YouTube,” searching “Visit Mississippi Coast” on Facebook, or visiting www.visitmscoast.org.

“We are especially proud of our local on-air talent, Susan LaBreque,” she said. “Susan’s presence personifies our hospitality, and she does a wonderful job promoting all the fun activities the Mississippi Gulf Coast offers,” she said.

The next three reports will be produced from the 3rd birthday celebration of the Hard Rock Casino Resort in Biloxi, the 2nd Saturday event in Old Town Bay St. Louis, and the championship golf course Shell Landing in Gautier, Mississippi.
