Mississippi Gulf Coast March Events: St. Patrick’s Day & Harbor Fest
St. Patrick’s Day shenanigans to Harbor Fest and other signs of spring, the partying continues on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in March!
On Saturday, March 16, and Sunday, March 17, nearly every community along the Mississippi Gulf Coast throws a St. Patrick’s Day celebration! And celebrations are not all they throw! Among the typical beads and Irish trinkets, you can also expect to see cabbage, potatoes and carrots—everything but the corned beef—come flying off the floats at the Waveland parade.
Here’s a schedule of events in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day!
Saturday, March 16:
• Grillin’ on the Green, Biloxi Town Green from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Barbeque competition, games for kids and live entertainment! More information about Grillin’ on the Green can be found at: www.mainstreetbiloxi.com
• 4th St. Paddy’s Day Celebration, downtown Ocean Springs. 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Irish food and drink specials! www.oceanspringschamber.com
• Waveland St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Coleman Avenue and Beach Boulevard, 2:00 p.m. Throws include ingredients for a hearty Irish stew! The oldest Irish Parade on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
• 35th Annual Biloxi Hibernia St. Patrick’s Parade and 5K Run. Downtown Biloxi. Bagpipes and leprechauns lead the parade! Race at 9:00 a.m.; parade at 2:00 p.m. hiberniamarchingsociety.com/Home_Page.html
Sunday, March 17:
• Shenanigan’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, downtown Gulfport, 2:00 p.m. Float throwers toss wooden nickels, mini green beer steins, and cabbage, potatoes and onions! www.quotams.com/home.shen.htm
• Pass St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Downtown Pass Christian, 1:00 p.m. The Krewe of Blarney leads this “Halfast” Walking Parade!
Also on March 16, from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., you won’t want to miss Harbor Fest, a free admission event, showcasing Jones Park, the spacious outdoor festival venue along the beach in Gulfport. Harbor Fest features the following:
• Over 100 arts and crafts vendors
• Barbeque competition
• The City of Gulfport’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt; games, face painting and the Easter Bunny!
