Christmas at Beauvoir
November 9 through December 23.
Lights remain through January 6.
A new tradition for families and historians alike
Under a canopy of 100 century-old live oaks set aglow with thousands of white lights, Christmas at Beauvoir holds an array of holiday delights for families and history lovers alike. The festivities here hearken back to the old-fashioned charm and splendor of Christmas in America’s Victorian era, when Jefferson Davis and his family would have called Beauvoir their home.
Visitors are invited to hop aboard the H~n~H Railway for a trackless train tour of the grounds among the lighted oak trees, and stroll through Jefferson Davis’ home decorated in 1889 fashion. They will be treated to entertainment from carolers, storytellers, actors and musicians in 1889-period dress, and an authentic Father Klaus decked in a gorgeous, flowing robe will be on hand for visits and photos with children. Families may also participate together in Victorian-age crafts, games and activities.
